NCCU Breaks Open Close Game

WASHINGTON, D.C. – It was a running day for the North Carolina Central Eagles as all three main running backs found paydirt.

Isaiah Totten rushed for 90 yards on 17 carries and tallied the only score of the first half of Saturday’s game.  But then the Eagles of North Carolina Central broke away in the second half for a 28-6 MEAC win at Howard.

Latrell Collier tallied two touchdowns on the day, one on the ground and one in the air and Jordan Freeman broke two tackles for a 40-yard score.  All three scores came in the second half.

The Eagles (4-5, 3-2 MEAC) rushed for 199 yards as a team and held the Bison of Howard to 39 yards.  NCCU totaled 390 yards of offense to only 195 for Howard (1-8, 1-4 MEAC).

Davius Richard finished the day 18-for-29 for 191 yards and a touchdown, hitting seven different receivers.

This marks the eighth straight win against the Bison.  Howard last won in this series in 1994.

Next for the Eagles is a home date with the Spartans of Norfolk State on Saturday November 9th at 2pm at O’Kelly-Riddick Stadium.
