Aggies Hold off South Carolina State for MEAC Lead

ORANGEBURG, SC – It took a while, but the North Carolina A&T Aggies scored a road win and first place at South Carolina State on Saturday afternoon 22-20.

After Dillon Bresden opened the scoring with a 23-yard field goal for the Bullogs, then Labron Morris crashed over from two yards out to give the Bulldogs a quick 10-0 lead with just under five minutes elapsed in the second quarter.

The Aggies (6-2, 4-1 MEAC) used their defense to get back in it with a safety from Kyin Howard.  Jah-Maine Martin ran in from five yards out then Korey Banks hauled in a four-yard pass from Kylil Carter to give the Aggies a 16-10 lead at the half.

Noel Ruiz added two third quarter field goals to extend the lead before De’Montrez Burroughs caught a 49-yard pass from Corey Fields to bring the Bulldogs within 5.  Dillon Breeden added the last paoints of the game with 11:18 remaining to close the scoring for the day.

The Aggies totaled 417 yards on the afternoon to 379 for South Carolina State.

Next Saturday the Aggies head to Baltimore to take on the Morgan State Bears at 1pm ET while the Bulldogs host Howard at 1:30pm ET.
