Wolves Defeat Chesterton

CHESTERTON, IN – It may not have started out the way that they hoped, there may have been a weather delay, but the Michigan City Wolves improved to 2-1 with a 28-10 victory at Chesterton.

The game started inauspiciously on Friday night for the Wolves as running back Michael Bradford dropped the ball on the first offensive play of the game for the Wolves. Three plays later, a Chesterton FG gave the Trojans a 3-0 lead.

That lead didn’t last long as the Wolves quickly responded as the combination of QB Bryce Hayman and WR Zennon Wilhelm connected for a first-down play and a touchdown to give MC a 7-3 lead.

After the Trojans got a touchdown to get a 10-7 lead to enter the second quarter, the weather intervened and forced a postponement to Saturday.

When the game resumed and Chesterton facing a 3rd and 11 from their own 33, the Wolves got a stop and then went to work. Hayman connected with Wilhelm for a TD to give them Wolves a 14-10 lead at intermission that they wouldn’t relinquish.

In the 3rd period, the Wolves struck again as Bradford ripped off a 57 yard run and Hayman capped the drive with a 13-yard TD run. The Wolves led 21-10 after three period.

The Wolves put it away in the money period when Hayman connected with Demetrius Garrett on a perfect fade to the left corner of the end zone to complete the scoring.

The Wolves are home next Friday night to host the Valparaiso Vikings at Ames Field at 7pm. Arena Sportsnet Indiana will start its coverage at 6:30pm CT with the Wolves Pregame show.
