RailCats Win Again

GARY – Alex Gunn was blazing through seven strong innings while Cameron Newell and Tyler Sullivan garnered two hits apiece as the Gary Southshore RailCats defeated the Salina Stockade 5-4 on Saturday night at U.S. Steel Yard.

The win moves Gary to 4-1 in the second half of the season and 31-24 overall in the American Association.  The ‘Cats and the T-Bones trail the Lincoln Saltdogs by two games in the Central Division.  Gary is also now 6-4 in the last 10 games.

Gunn struck out four in the effort and ups his record to 5-4 on the season while Josh Hodges took the loss for Salina.  Jorge De Leon picked up his team-high-tying sixth save for the RailCats.

The ‘Cats finish their three-game series against Salina on Sunday afternoon at 2:10 p.m. RailCats rookie right-hander Marshall Pautsch (0-0, 2.77) opposes southpaw Brian Smith (1-7, 6.88).   The game can be heard on WEFM 95.9 FM and online at  Jared Shlensky and Austin Anderson bring the play-by-play live.
