RailCats release Parenty, sign Fowler

GARY, Ind. The Gary SouthShore RailCats announced earlier today that they have signed LHP Jack Fowler and released INF Jack Parenty on Wednesday.

Parenty played college baseball at Stony Brook University and hit .286 batting with one home run, 28 RBIs, six stolen bases and 10 extra-base hits as a senior in 2016. Parenty was named the America East Conference Player of the Year and to the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Team as a junior in 2015.

 

Fowler made six starts and appeared in eight games with the Watertown Bucks of the Empire League in 2016. He finished the season with a 2-2 record, struck out 34 batters, and posted a 4.32 ERA. He spent the 2015 season in the Canadian-American Association with the Ottawa Champions and the Garden State Grays.

 

Fowler made 13 total appearances (1 start) that season, striking out 21 batters in 26.1 total innings.  Fowler played collegiately at Felician College where he was awarded the 2014 pitcher of the year award in the New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association.
