Padres Shut Out Phillies

SAN DIEGO – Wil Myers had an interesting trip around the bases today.

In the fourth inning after banging an RBI single, Myers, swiped second base, third, then home to become the first player to swipe every base in an inning since Dee Gordon recorded the feat for the Dodgers in 2011.

That made the score 2-0 at the time, and Clayton Richard did the rest handling the Phillies lineup and picking up his 6th win of the year in a 3-0 shutout.

Phillies right-handed starter Nick Pivetta started strong, striking out eight of the first nine hitters he faced. He finished with a career-high 11 strikeouts, but took the loss after allowing three runs over five-plus frames.

The Padres will now host the NL East-Leading Washington Nationals in a four game series beginning Thursday Night at Petco Park.
