NU WBKB 2017-18 Conference Schedule Announced

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern learned its 2017-18 Big Ten schedule on Wednesday during the conference’s unveiling on Big Ten Network.

The Wildcats 16-game conference slate features three home-and-home series, as well as five additional games at home and on the road.

Game times, TV assignments, non-conference opponents, and ticket information will be released at a later date.

The Wildcats’ home-and-home games are against Illinois (Dec. 31 at ILL, Feb. 18 at NU). Wisconsin (Jan. 11 at NU, Jan. 21 at WIS), and Michigan (Jan. 28 at NU, Feb. 8 at MICH). The ‘Cats lead the all-time series against all three programs and have won each of the last seven matchups against Wisconsin and the past four over Illinois.

Northwestern also welcomes Minnesota (Dec. 28), Nebraska (Jan. 7), Maryland (Jan. 25), Iowa (Feb. 11), and Rutgers (Feb. 24) to historic Beardsley Gym at Evanston Township High School, the Wildcats’ temporary home for the 2017-18 season while Welsh-Ryan Arena undergoes a $110 million renovation.

Chicago’s Big Ten Team, in addition to the three home-and-home series, travels to Michigan State (Jan. 3), Purdue (Jan. 18), Indiana (Feb. 4), Penn State (Feb. 14), and Ohio State (Feb. 21).

The 25th annual Big Ten Tournament will be held Feb. 28-March 4 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

The Wildcats are coming off a 20-11 season, their second 20-win campaign in the past three years. Northwestern went 8-8 in the Big Ten in 2016-17 and beat Iowa in the first round of the conference tournament.
