Ingram Signs With Bulls
CHICAGO (June 22, 2018) – Donte Ingram (Chicago, Ill./Simeon), who starred at Loyola University Chicago for the last four seasons, has signed with the Chicago Bulls as a free agent and will compete for his hometown team in NBA Summer League play in Las Vegas next month.
This marks the second straight season that a Loyola graduate will play in the NBA Summer League. Ingram will be looking to follow in the footsteps of his former Rambler teammate and Chicago Public League product, Milton Doyle (Chicago, Ill./Marshall/Kansas), who played for the Brooklyn Nets last summer, before signing a two-way contract with the organization and making his NBA debut in December.
“I am very excited for this opportunity to play for my hometown team,” Ingram said. “Without Coach Moser and the great staff at Loyola that has helped me improve each year, I wouldn’t be in this position today. It’s all about progression and trusting the process. More blessings to come!”
Ingram, who gained national notoriety for hitting a long three-pointer with three-tenths of a second remaining to lift Loyola past Miami, 64-62, in the opening round of the NCAA tournament on March 15, wrapped up an illustrious career in Maroon and Gold as one of only 11 players in program history to accumulate over 1,200 points and 600 rebounds. The 6-foot-6 guard/forward led the Ramblers to 89 wins in his four seasons in Rogers Park, including a school-record 32 victories, a Missouri Valley Conference regular season title and MVC Championship crown in 2017-18. As a freshman in 2014-15, he helped Loyola capture the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) title.
As a senior, Ingram collected Second Team All-MVC and First Team National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District 16 honors, was tabbed Most Outstanding Player of the MVC Championship, and was a member of the NCAA South Regional All-Tournament Team. He contributed 11.0 points, a team-best 6.4 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game this season.
One of the top three-point marksmen in The Valley, Ingram shot 41.7 percent (128-for-307) from beyond the arc over his final two seasons at Loyola, leading the conference in that category in 2016-17 (.458).
Ingram and the Bulls open NBA Summer League play in Las Vegas on July 7 when they face the Cleveland Cavaliers at 8:30 p.m. Central on ESPN2.
