Four Homers Lead River Bandits’ Victory

DAVENPORT, Iowa – The River Bandits knocked off the Beloit Snappers 7-3 on a warm Monday night at Modern Woodmen Park. Chuckie Robinson homered twice for Quad Cities. Ronel Blanco recorded the win in relief for the Bandits.

For the third straight day, the Bandits (25-24) scored two first inning runs. Yordan Alvarez singled home the first run of the evening. Rodrigo Ayarza followed by bouncing into a double play to score a run. RBI doubles from Beloit’s (25-25) Edwin Diaz and Kyle Nowlin tied the game at two apiece in the second inning. In the bottom of the second, Chuckie Robinson and Wander Franco hit back-to-back home runs, handing Quad Cities a 4-2 lead. Robinson came to the plate two innings later and left the yard for the second time. Robinson’s two-run homer lengthened the lead to 6-2. Solo home runs in the seventh from Beloit’s Kyle Nowlin and Quad Cities’ Carmen Benedetti completed the scoring.

Forrest Whitley started for the Bandits and tossed three innings, allowed two runs and three hits. Blanco (1-0) tossed four innings in relief, allowed one run, four hits and struck out six. Kevin Hill worked a scoreless eighth and ninth. Matt Milburn started for Beloit. Milburn (2-4) surrendered six runs on nine hits. Brandon Bailey pitched in relief for Beloit. He allowed the Benedetti home run after a string of eight straight strikeouts to start his outing.

The Bandits completed the eight game homestand 5-3. Quad Cities now hits the road for a quick three game series with first place Cedar Rapids.
