Chicago Blackhawks had a Wild Weekend!

Chicago– The Chicago Blackhawks said they were going to make some changes this coming year. I do not think anyone had this in mind.

I remember looking at my phone Friday at about 12:30 or 1:00 and seeing that the Blackhawks traded Niklas Hjalmarsson to the Arizona Coyotes for defenseman Connor Murphy, whom the Hawks have had their eye on for a while, and forward prospect Laurent Dauphin. I was really surprised, he is one of our core players on defense.

Then the BIG trade happened just moments later, Artemi Panarin, Tyler Motte and a sixth-round pick this season are going to the Columbus Blue Jackets for Brandon Saad, goaltending prospect Anton Forsberg and a fifth-rounder in 2018.

This shook all of Chicago, I video called my brother and was like “Yo, did you see these trades the Hawks just made?” My brother said “No, what trades and who?” I told him we sent Artemi to Columbus and got Saad back, and sent Niklas to Arizona and got some kids I never heard of.

He was absolutely stunned he rushed me off the phone and had to go look for himself. I think Chicago did not wake up Friday and expect to see Saad back, let alone Artemi and Niklas GONE!

In the deals, the Hawks are trading two players in Hjalmarsson and Panarin who had two years left on their contracts for players who have four years (Saad) and five years remaining (Murphy) and make similar money.

It makes sense to me entirely so would you consider this a rebuild or just some cap problems Bowman wanted to clear up for young guys that we can have for a while.

While the Hawks know Saad can be a fit — especially playing on a line with Jonathan Toews, who has seen his production dip the last two seasons without Saad — they are making a big bet on the 6-foot-4, 212-pound Murphy being a top-four defenseman of the future

Panarin is 25 years old and he played 162 games, scored 61 goals, had 90 assists, and 151 points and is a very offensive player! Saad is 24 years old played 160 games, scored 55 goals, had 51 assists and 106 points and is a very good two-way player.

So will Saad get better with Toews on his side, or will we miss Panarins scoring and offensive play? With this trade what is left to do and who is next on the block? Who will the hawks go get next?

This is the best part of the season folks so buckle in cause we have more trades on the way! Happy Trading!
