Astros Acquire Cole From Pirates

It looks like the Houston Astros are wanting to stay on top of the mountain that took them so long to climb.

The Astros throughout 2017 were the deepest team in baseball and kept proving it in the postseason. Now the rich get richer by adding and All-Star Pitcher

In a five-player deal, the Astros acquired starting pitcher Gerrit Cole from the Pirates for RHPs Joe Musgrove, Micheal Feliz, 3B Colin Moran, and OF Jason Martin.

Cole was the Pirates’ first-round draft pick in 2011 and No. 1 overall out of UCLA. The former Bruin became an All-Star and posted a 19-win season in 2015. The following season he was 12-up and 12-down with a 4.26 ERA for a Pittsburgh team that won 75 games. That season he allowed 55 walks and 31 home runs while striking out 196 batters in 203 innings. In his career, Cole is 59-42 with a 3.50 ERA in 127 starts.

So now, Cole joins some guy who is an All-Star named Justin Verlander, another named Dallas Keuchel, yet another named Lance McCullers, Jr, and World Series hero Charlie Morton. Bonus note: Cole is under contract for two more seasons!

The rich get richer, and the champs are getting stronger to defend their title.
