Frankfort, IN

With most people going into Saturday night’s game between Central Catholic and Liberty Christian thinking it would be better than the Morning and Afternoon sessions were.

Alas, my friend quite, on the contrary, you would have thought you were watching the NBA 3 point shootout. At one point the Knights and Lions 6 straight 3s were made.

The scoring, commenced with Trajan Dixon got things started by hitting a left corner 3 to get things going for Liberty Christian. However, the Knights would not be shutout as Thomas Gothard got them on the board at 3-2.

After trading baskets back and forth, CC took the lead for good when Ben Tharp who scored 14 points in the Morning session with North Vermillion buried a 3 from the top of the key to make the score 11-9 Knights with 2:45 left to go in the 1st Quarter.

At the end of the Quarter, Central Catholic led Liberty Christian 13-12.

As the 2nd Stanza begun, it was the Jacob Page show as he was able to pace the long run from CC bury hitting 2 wide open triples.

Central Catholic’s Head Coach Dave Barrett, had nothing but great things to say about being able to get over the hump against Liberty Christian as it was the first time that the Knights beat the Lions since 2013, “It felt good that we got them 6 straight times and beat them twice.”

With the 18-5 run in progress, there was a host of Knights who contributed to the run to put the game out of reach for the Lions.

After the game when asked his about performance Jacob Page said, “We was able to execute our game plan and all 5 guys were able to get open and create our shots.”

The final nail was installed into the casket when Carson Barrett scored 6 of his 10 points in the 3rd Quarter for all intense and purposes ending Liberty Christian’s season. During the late stages of the game, Central Catholic was able to push the lead up to a game-high 23 point lead with 45.8 left in the 4th Quarter after 2 Free throws by Tyler Powers.

However, Liberty Christian did go on an 8-0 run to end the game as Ronny Williams scored his last points in a Liberty Christian uniform as he hit a 3 with 5 seconds left to make the Final Score 69-54.

Avery Denhart who had 19 points in the win added, “It just happened that me and Jacob were able to get going and the rest of the team was able to feed off what we were able to do.”

With the win, Central Catholic improves to 21-6 on the season and will play Gary 21st Century next Saturday.
Liberty Christian finishes the season at 13-15.
