2018 National Championship Preview

This is the night that everyone has been waiting for – the National Championship Game.

The Georgia Bulldogs and the Alabama Crimson Tide won their CFP Playoff Games (Rose and Sugar Bowls respectively) and now go head-to-head for all the marbles on Monday night.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta will be host to this spectacle and it’s a matchup of teacher vs student.

Kirby Smart vs Nick Saban. Who would have thunk it?

Especially for the Smart-led Georgia Bulldogs after they got mauled by Auburn after getting to #1 in the polls. The Tigers took them to school.

As far as ‘Bama goes, they weren’t even supposed to be IN the playoff considering they didn’t even play in their conference championship game.

Yet here they are! Here they are!

That said, here are some matchups and keys to the game

Georgia – Michel and Chubb Must Run:
These are two of the best running backs in the country and proved it against Oklahoma in the Rose Bowl. Sony Michel ran in for the game winning touchdown in Double OT to cap a 181 yard day. Chubb wasn’t too shabby either as he chipped in with 145 yards on 14 carries to help Georgia to a 527-yard offensive. The Dawgs will need this two-headed monster to be even MORE on top of their game facing the Alabama defense.

Alabama – The 3-4 D can’t let the Dawgs O see
What I mean is this – Bama cannot allow the Dawgs to see any kind of daylight offensively. Oklahaoma was used to playing in high-scoring games and even though they stopped UGA for a while, the Dawgs were able to come back. Crimson Tide Defensive Coordinator Jeremy Pruitt needs his defense to now allow the Dawgs to breathe – let alone run.

Wild Card: Jake Fromm
Who told this kid he was a freshman? Certainly not anyone who’s played him since the Auburn game. This kid has done nothing but step up all season long. 23 TDs to 5 INTs, 2383 yards, and remember he was a backup to Jake Eason. But after Eason went down, all Jake has done was become the SEC Freshman of the year and one of the leaders of this Dawgs offense. Don’t think that he can’t be a difference.

Snowman’s Prediction – I know I’m supposed to look at the analysis of this and I am, but this is one of the few times I’ll trust my gut and call for the upset – DAWGS!

Hunker it down one more time! Dawgs and Tide for the trophy! I’ll be watching – will you? Leave a comment below and most of all…….ENJOY!!!!
